PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ were developed to help meet the needs of world class athletes and exercise enthusiasts who want a convenient, great tasting source of high quality protein. They also feature a convenient resealable pouch. As with other PowerBar® products, PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ are a tool for athletes to use along with a balanced diet to help you be your best.
When should I use PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™?
PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ are designed for use before and/or after a workout to help with the repair and building of muscle tissue. The first 30 minutes after exercise is the critical time to focus on recovery.
How do I use PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™?
For best results, drink 200-400 ml of water with each pouch of PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ after exercising to aid in the absorption of the nutrients and help maintain hydration. Consume PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ as soon as possible after a workout, then follow up with a well-balanced carb-protein meal within 2 hours.
Each package has a personalized usage chart on the back so you can determine what you need to meet you training goals. PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ are also a convenient source of high quality protein to add to your overall diet.
To optimize muscle building after strength training, have 9g protein (3–4 Bites™) per 45 kg of body weight.

What is TriSource™ protein and what is the advantage?
PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ contain 20g of PowerBar® TriSource™ protein blend. The PowerBar® TriSource™ protein blend is a combination of three protein sources; Whey Protein Isolate, Calcium Caseinate and Soy Protein Isolate, which are absorbed by the body at different rates1 which further supports the muscle building process.

Why is consuming protein important after exercise?
Protein is one of the critical essential nutrients in a diet, it is essential to help build and repair body tissues like muscle. Exercise can have a major effect on your body's metabolism and on protein turnover; the longer or more intense your workout is, the greater the body's need for energy, including both protein and carbohydrates.
How much protein do I need after exercise?
• Whether you’re an endurance athlete, play team sports, or strength train, protein after a workout can help you with your training goals. Protein supplies necessary amino acids to help rebuild and repair muscle tissue. Although protein requirements may vary between individuals, for example, due to differences in body size or activity level, in general look to consume a minimum of 15–25 grams of protein within an hour after exercise to maximize the muscle rebuilding process.2How does the 20 grams of protein in PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ compare to other protein sources?

Why is it important to consume carbohydrates with protein?
If your body doesn't get enough energy, it will use the protein in your system as energy, and less protein will be available to help maintain and build muscle and other body tissues.
What are the nutritional advantages of PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™?
PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ contain approximately 52% of calories from carbohydrates, 27% from protein, and 21% from fat.

Are PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ appropriate for diabetics?
It is important for individuals with diabetes to work with their physician or registered dietitian to determine whether a product is appropriate for their individual diet plan. One pouch of PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ provides approximately 2 carbohydrate exchanges and 3 protein exchanges based on the guidelines of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
I have food allergies. Can I eat PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™?
If you are allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, milk, lactose, soy, or gluten (from wheat flour, oats or malt) you should not eat PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™
• Peanuts/Nuts: All PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ are made on equipment that processes products with peanuts and/or nuts. Some flavours contain either almond or peanut ingredients. Are PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ vegetarian? Vegan?
For vegetarians who consume milk and dairy products, PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ is an appropriate product. PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™, however, are not vegan. Two of the protein sources, whey protein isolate and calcium caseinate, are from milk.
STORAGE TIPS
Do PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ have to be refrigerated? How will heat affect the Bites™?
PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ do not have to be refrigerated, but we recommend storing the Bites™ in a cool, dry place. In general, it is best to store them between 5 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius. Storing PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ in areas where the temperature exceeds 25 degrees for an extended period of time will result in significant changes to the taste, texture, colour, and coating of the product.
Do PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ freeze?
Because PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ are low in fat and have a water base, you may find that they tend to freeze in colder weather. Keep your PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ close to your body by keeping in an inside pocket when exercising in colder temperatures.
How long will my PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ last?
Each PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ pouch is stamped with an expiry date. Although it is safe to eat PowerBar ProteinPlus® Bites™ after this date, we recommend that you use before the expiry date to ensure you're getting the full nutrition benefits of the product.
What is the shelf life unopened?
The shelf life is 12 months unopened.
